Europe Group CEO Rasim Bajrovic claims that the negative effects of the spread of the coronavirus pandemic are increasing every day and that the BiH economy is already collapsing.

– I expect a massive dismissal of the workforce and the closure of businesses and companies – Bajrovic said in an interview with Fena.

He believes that BiH and all levels of government must urgently help the economy to preserve jobs, avoid the liquidity of businesses and immediately provide money through funds or other means to help the economy.

He said that through the Federation of Employers of the Federation of BiH and the FBiH Chamber of Commerce, they formed a Crisis Staff, which, in coordination with all levels of government, will try to secure money to help the economy in the fastest possible way.

In that direction, Bajrović added, they appealed to the governments of the Federation of BiH, RS, Brcko District and the Council of Ministers of BiH with their conclusions.

– Among other things, we demand that the payment of indirect taxes for six months be immediately delayed and that the economy be immediately exempted from direct taxes, which also includes contributions and that these funds be refunded by the state – Bajrovic emphasized.

He also said that they demanded that the Central Bank of BiH send an order to all commercial banks to freeze all loans to legal entities and workers or to approve a grease period for paying interest for at least one year and to create a long-term assistance fund for the economy .

Talking about tourism, Bajrović said that the area was most affected by the pandemic, as there were no longer tourist and business movements of people.

– Everything stopped. Our hotels in Sarajevo Canton and all over BiH are empty. We have 99 percent of reservations canceled for congresses, conferences, seminars …- said Bajrovic.

He stressed that they have taken thorough sanitary and other measures to protect workers and workplaces from coronaviruses and that they have responded in that direction, but since there are no guests, Bajrovic says they have no fear that coronavirus will spread in hotel accommodations.

– Hoteliers and tourist workers are in a situation where they need and must receive urgent financial assistance from the state in order to preserve their jobs and activities – concluded Europe Group CEO Rasim Bajrovic in an interview with Fena.
