The clear water in the city canals of Venice is even visible to fish after the coronavirus pandemic

As the world continues to struggle with the coronavirus, the pandemic has some unexpected side effects. In Venice, which is closed to visitors, as well as the rest of Italy, locals have noticed that the water in the city canals has become much clearer. Even small fish can be seen swimming.

Images posted on social networks have attracted a number of positive comments:

“Nature continues life. How beautiful, “” I wish the water was always so clear, “” Wonderful. There are even fish that we get a chance to see, ”“ This virus did bring something nice, ”are some of the comments.

A spokesman for the mayor of Venice told CNN that water quality has not improved even though it looks cleaner.

“The water now looks clearer because there is less traffic on the canals, allowing sediment to remain at the bottom. Although the water pollution may not have decreased, air quality has improved, ”said a spokesman.
