We need to find ways to get rid of stress, and experts are unanimous in recommending that staying in nature is the best way to recover our body and fill it with positive energy.

Natural anti-stress therapy

Staying in nature has a very positive effect on our mental and physical condition, and in many ways.

Activities such as growing fruits and vegetables, planting flowers or exercising outdoors and having close contact with animals have a very positive impact on us:

  • They improve our mood
  • They reduce feelings of stress or anger
  • They help us feel more relaxed
  • They strengthen our immunity, and thus our physical health
  • They affect our self-confidence
  • They make us more active
  • They affect the better quality of sleep

We are all different, of course, and not every activity in nature will affect everyone equally – some will prefer to exercise or hike, while others will take care of their garden, but the positive impact of connecting with nature around us will be felt by all. Nature simply makes us stop for a moment and soak up the world around us, notice the details, and admire it. All of this makes us feel more relaxed and relieved.

Take advantage of all the benefits of nature

Stay in nature as often as possible

Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country full of natural blessings and beautiful mountains. However, even though you are not a big fan of the mountains, every place has its own little natural oasis, be it a park, a forest, or a promenade by the river. Set aside at least 30 minutes daily for walking and staying in the fresh air.

Plant vegetables in the garden

Having your own piece of land to cultivate is invaluable. Not only can we be aware of what exactly we are eating, but the very fact that we have grown vegetables ourselves gives us a sense of happiness and pride. Create your own small garden or if you can’t, a few pots on the balcony or windows are enough. The point is to set aside some time of day to take care of your plants and spend them outdoors.

Picking fruits and collecting fruits from nature

Even if you do not have your own orchard, it is possible that one of your acquaintances will gladly let you pick the fruit. Also, head to the mountains and hills near the cities where you can find wild fruits: blueberries, raspberries, hazelnuts, and other fruits or pick wild meadows and herbs in the meadows. Depending on the season, wild thyme, yarrow, nettle, dandelion, mint, and many other useful plants can be found in our region. However, look for an experienced guide to pick mushrooms.

Bring nature into your home

Bring in your home houseplants that are very useful air purifiers, equip windows and balconies with flower pots or collect details from nature that you can use in some creative way or decorate the space. Design some cozy nook by the window overlooking the greenery or the sky.

And finally, pay attention to nature: notice its colors, shapes, and states, listen to its sounds and smells. All these “little things” have a very beneficial effect on our psyche.
