The installation of the silhouettes of the hanged people was set up today in protest against the Mass for Bleiburg, which was announced for May 16 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Sarajevo.
Sarajevo: Symbolically, an installation symbolizing the innocent citizens of Sarajevo was set up in the Sarajevo settlement of Marijin Dvor today, in order to point out and remind of the historical facts that are the result of Maks Luburic’s actions, reports Anadolu Agency (AA).
The installation of the silhouettes of the hanged people was set up today in protest against the Mass for Bleiburg, which was announced for May 16 at the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Sarajevo.
Nihad Aličković, from the AntiDayton movement, who is responsible for setting up the installation, stated that they gave themselves the right to oppose holding a mass for those whom the whole world condemns.
“At the very beginning, we want to point out that our reaction is not aimed at holding the Mass itself as a religious rite or religious custom. Masses in Sarajevo and other BiH cities take place without any problems or incidents, and so it was during the aggression in besieged Sarajevo. What distinguishes this announced Mass for May 16, 2020, is that it is held in the name of criminals and is dedicated to fascist lines that have only corpses left behind, “Alickovic explained.
He reminded of “the unreasonable hanging of civilians in Sarajevo, which was committed on March 28, 1945, on the orders of the Ustasha administrator of Sarajevo, Max Luburic.” As he stated, 55 citizens of Sarajevo were hanged in the Sarajevo Marijin Dvor at that time.
“It was exactly seven days before the escape of the said criminal from Sarajevo. From March 18 to April 4, Maks Luburic and his Ustashas carried out the worst fascist terror against the citizens of Sarajevo and killed at least 783 inhabitants of the city. On that occasion, all other crimes historical facts behind the name of Maks Luburić, we absolutely oppose this exclusively targeted commemoration and giving meaning to one criminal and his followers “, said Aličković.
According to him, Sarajevo as a city has survived many criminals, from Eugene of Savoy, Hitler, Radovan Karadzic and Ratko Mladic, including Max Luburic, and they do not want to think that “tomorrow someone could hold a commemoration on behalf of the last villains who held Sarajevo. under siege for a full four years. ”
“In the name of humanity, in the name of all victims of aggression and genocide, in the name of historical facts and in the name of all victims of Max Luburic and all citizens of Sarajevo and Bosnia and Herzegovina, we call on Archbishop of Vrhbosna Cardinal Vinko Puljic to give up this kind of Mass. holding a mass performed by the Catholics of Sarajevo “, said Aličković.
He said that “if they hold the said mass in the name of the fascist rulers of life and death from that period, they will side with them, which they really do not want to believe is possible.”
“At the very end of your career, especially in a city where you are both respected and valued by all religions, we believe that you do not need this outburst and memory of desecrating and belittling the city in which you serve,” said Alickovic.
“We call on all those who are able to oppose the revival of pro-Ustasha characters through religious rites with their public advertising, thus giving them meaning and washing their hands of everything negative and bloody that is written behind their names,” he added.
