Turkey backs Georgia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity: President

The Turkish president on Tuesday said Turkey backs Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Recep Tayyip Erdogan made the remarks during a joint news conference with Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili after a meeting in the capital Ankara.

“I would like to take this opportunity to reiterate our desire to resolve the conflicts in Abkhazia and South Ossetia by peaceful means and in accordance with Georgia’s territorial integrity,” he said. “Turkey sees Georgia as key to regional cooperation.”

He added that Ankara supports regional cooperation between Turkey, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia.
