SARAJEVO, (Patria) – The Sarajevo Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office has formed cases to review the procurement procedures for respiratory and coronavirus tests of the Federation Government, the Balkan Research Network of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BIRN BiH) has confirmed.
After writing the Journal and Focus portal, the prosecution checks illegals in the procurement of 150,000 tests and one hundred respirators, and the role played by Director of the Federal Civil Protection Administration Fahrudin Solak in this procurement, spokeswoman for the Cantonal Prosecutor’s Office Azra Bavcic told BIRN BiH.
“The allegations will be checked to determine if there are elements of the crime,” Bavcic says.
According to the Journal, the Government of the Federation purchased 150,000 coronavirus tests and 100 respirators from an unknown supplier, an unknown manufacturer and through an unknown company.
The Journal states that the Federation Government purchased 20,000 tests for coronavirus from the Sarajevo-based Cubicus, which were transmitted to clinical centers in Sarajevo, Mostar and Tuzla in March, costing € 400,000.
“The Federal Civil Protection Administration and the Federal Government procure tests from a furniture restoration company. The tests came from Turkey, not South Korea, according to the Government, ”the Journal said, explaining that the type and amount of equipment to be purchased was decided by Solak.
He said at a press conference on April 8, when asked by a N1 reporter, that he did not remember who bought the equipment and how much it cost, and later said that 150,000 tests had been procured from Erkona from Sarajevo.
After 80 respirators arrived in BiH on Saturday and Federation Prime Minister Fadil Novalic announces that 20 more will arrive, the Fokus portal announced that they received information from the Indirect Taxation Authority that the respirators had been imported by the FH Srebrenina raspberry company from Srebrenica, which is engaged in growing and processing fruits and vegetables.
The value of the contract of KM 10.5 million for the procurement of one hundred respirators was awarded to a company owned by TV presenter Fikret Hodzic, who procured respirators from China, according to Focus.
