Saudi Arabia Takes Decisions and Measures to Maintain Safety, Health of Pilgrims during COVID-19

Riyadh, July 25, 2020: Saudi newspapers highlighted in their editorials today a number of issues, at local, regional, and international arenas.

Al-Yaum and Al-Bilad newspapers reported in their editorials that pilgrims are performing this year’s Hajj rituals in exceptional circumstances and unprecedented challenges in modern history due to the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic.

The papers added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s leadership was keen to take decisions and measures to maintain the safety and health of the pilgrims, in the light of this pandemic spreading around the world.

The papers concluded that the Cabinet was reassured in its recent session on the completion of arrangements of concerned government agencies during the Hajj season to implement security, preventive, organizational and service plans, in accordance with a high-level integrated work system aimed at enabling pilgrims to easily perform the rituals in a safe and healthy manner, with the best level of services and facilities, and the highest standards.

In another context, Al-Eqtisadiah newspaper reported in its editorial that the agricultural sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has developed greatly in the past three decades.

The paper added that the agricultural sector has contributed to providing a large part of the nutritional needs for the population, diversifying the economic base and sources of income, in addition to providing job opportunities.

The paper concluded that, a year ago, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud inaugurated the Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program, which is seen as one of most important products of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and its programs that support balanced development between the regions of Saudi Arabia.
