…and the Slovenian Primož Juvan built it with the help of a friend. The very existence of the facility on this side of Trebević popularized the visit to this mountain, so the “lungs of Sarajevo” are also visited by those who were not used to spending time in nature.
The home is located under the ridge that leads to the top of Trebević, half an hour’s drive from Sarajevo, and several marked trails lead to it.
Lovers of walking through the forest choose the path from Hotel Pino, which leads to the lodge in an hour and a half along marked and technically undemanding paths, while those who prefer climbing the ridge with a view of the mountains choose the longest trail that leads to the lodge from Lukavica, from “Energoinvest” .
There is also the shortest way to the home, parking the car at the end of the asphalt, towards the village of Blizanci and a half-hour climb up the ridge.
Guests of the home can enjoy the view of Sarajevo, sunsets and as many as 14 surrounding mountains, along with mountain tea, natural juice or other drink of their choice, while on weekends they also offer mountain food – beans and soup.
Primož Juvan moved to Sarajevo a little more than 20 years ago, and replaced his business life with the dream of building a shelter for mountaineers in a place he often visited, but also quickly returned to, due to the lack of a place where he could relax and enjoy the view after walks.
Remembering one of the best organized Winter Olympics, the one held in Sarajevo in 1984, he decided to pay tribute to sports, the Olympic mountain Trebević and the legendary Slovenian skier Jure Frank, who won the first Winter Olympic silver for the former Yugoslavia in the giant slalom at the Sarajevo Olympics.
So, seven years ago, with the help of the Municipality of East Stari Grad and mountaineers, a home was created that quickly became a favorite place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
