No later than December 1st, the Electronic Travel Authorization System (ESTA) will allow Croatian citizens to apply for business or tourist trips for up to 90 days without obtaining a visa, the statement added.

“The inclusion of Croatia in the Visa Waiver Program is an important step in further strengthening economic and security cooperation between the United States and Croatia,” the statement said.

And US Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas commented that “Today’s inclusion of Croatia in the Visa Waiver Program is an important recognition of the common economic and security interests of our two countries.” And he added “Congratulations to Croatia for becoming the 40th member of this Program after meeting strict criteria. I look forward to continuing our close cooperation on key priorities.”

The visa waiver program is a comprehensive security partnership between the United States and participating countries that allows travel to the United States for business or tourism purposes for up to 90 days while protecting national security, the Washington statement read.

And as the US has a large number of Croatian diaspora this will be good news for them as before obtaining a visa to visit the States was a complicated affair that involved visiting the US Embassy in Zagreb.
