Archaeological excavations begin at the Novi Pazar Bedem

Preparatory work has begun at the Novopazar Fortress today for archaeologists from Novi Pazar, Sarajevo and Belgrade to carry out protective archaeological excavations, the Beta agency told the local Ras Museum. the terrain lasts for several days, and is expected archeologically next week.

“The Novi Pazar Wall is a cultural monument of exceptional importance and a fortress dating from the 18th century, but we expect to find archeological remains from a much earlier period during the survey,” said Bacicinin.

The project is funded by the City of Novi Pazar, implemented by the Ras Museum in cooperation with the Sarajevo Museum and the Belgrade Archeological Institute, and approved by the Ministry of Culture of Serbia and the Republican Institute for the Protection of Monuments.
